Life has been so crazy this summer. We have hardly been at home, and while it's been fun, it hasn't been a very relaxing summer. On Monday morning, my parents left to go back to Arizona. Rob's parents stayed until Thursday afternoon.
It was a bit of a whirlwind while they were here. Kim dad, Bob, died just before they came to Michigan. It was expected, since he was in his 90's and in hospice care, but still very sad. Kim and Annette were trying to plan the funeral while they were traveling. We did go on bike rides, to the library, ate at Pizza Sam's and Cherry Berry, and went to Plymouth Park. We also went to Brooklen's sandlot game and watched Hurley at gymnastics. We had a great visit with them. They left on Thursday afternoon. On Thursday morning, Brooklen went with Ethan Menzies to an all-day sports camp at the tennis center. Later that day, I took the younger kids to Dr. Juarbe's office for Zaya and Kaiton's well-child checkups.
On Friday, we spent the day packing and getting ready to leave for Utah. On Saturday morning, we woke up at 2:00am to leave for the airport. After a long drive and 2 flights, plus a 45 minute layover, we arrived in Salt Lake City. Annette and Emily brought us a car to the airport and then we headed to In n Out to get some lunch. Afterwards, we went to Rob's parent's house and hung out through a rainstorm. When the rain stopped, we went to the park to play a family game of softball. I think everyone was there and participated, except for Jennifer and Paul. After the game, we went back to Kim and Annette's house to eat Salmon and then we all went to the pool. Everyone was swimming and the kids had a blast. At about 7:30pm, we showered the kids and headed to Melissa's house, were we stayed.
On Sunday, we went to church with Melissa at 9:00am. Afterwards, we went to Kim and Annette's for hamburgers. At 4:00pm, we went to the church to practice for a song that the family sang at the funeral. When that was over, we went to the mortuary for the viewing. I wasn't planning on showing my kids the body, but Morgan and Sadie took the girls over and they were touching it. Brooklen and I weren't really wanting to see the body, so we tried to stay a little further away. After the viewing, we went to Elsie's house and hung out with Rob's cousins and siblings. Their ward was so kind and brought over sandwiches, chips, potato salad, and dessert for all of us!
