Week 1

We spent a quiet New Year's Eve at home this year. I just love spending the holidays, at home, with my little family. Brooklen watched the Polar Express at school this year, and he wanted to watch it again with the family, so I checked it out at the library and we spent New Year's Eve on the floor by the tv watching that movie. The girls didn't quite make it to midnight, but I think that their efforts were thwarted by the fact that we put a movie on.

The following day, we took the kids ice skating at the civic arena. My mommy heart just swells watching my kids excel at new things. Brooklen and Hurley were both amazing on the ice, and sadly, they both kicked MY trash! I should get used to that! Sweet Zaya loves to be part of everything the big kids do, and she put forth her best effort. She didn't even want to use the assist.

On Friday, we met the Nymans at the roller skating rink.  Zaya got roller skates for Christmas and I thought it would be fun to try them out.  I was so proud of her.  She didn't whine or cry at all and was completely independent trying to skate.  Hurley was a cute "mother hen."  She spent a lot of the time worried that Zaya needed help.  She even went and got her an assist to use (without paying for it, haha).

On Saturday we finally got SNOW!  The kids were soooo excited.  They spent the morning playing in the fresh snow and then we went to the library for a while.  I know the kids are anxious to start school tomorrow.  I am anxious to get the house organized, but I have really been enjoying the downtime we've had the last couple of weeks.  I'm crossing my fingers for a snow day this week!
